How to schedule recurring AI tasks and check each run

How to schedule recurring AI tasks: in the current workspace, create a scheduled task, set when it runs and what runs it, then enable it. This is for work that should repeat without opening a session by hand each time.

How a scheduled task differs from a live chat

A session handles the request you make now. A scheduled task runs when its trigger fires and keeps a record on that task. One workspace can hold more than one task. A protected task cannot be edited or deleted by hand.

Create a task

Open scheduled tasks, create a task, and set at least:

  • A task name, and a description if you need one.
  • An execution target: an MCS method in this workspace, or an agent session.
  • For an agent, choose the agent, model configuration, and any Skills, and write the prompt sent to the agent.
  • For MCS, choose or enter a target method from the current workspace.
  • A trigger: once, a fixed interval, or cron. Once needs a run time. An interval needs a number of seconds. Cron uses a five-field expression.

You can also set a time zone, a concurrency policy, what to do after a missed trigger, a max retry count, and a timeout in seconds. Choose those values for this task. This guide does not offer a universal number of seconds or retries.

Manage it after it is enabled

Filter the task list by status and type, or search by name or method. You can edit, pause, resume, run now, or delete a task. After deletion it no longer fires automatically. Task details show recent runs. If it has never run, that list is empty.

The type can be MCS or Agent. If the target is wrong, change it before you rely on the schedule.

FAQ

Are conditional triggers the same as a schedule?

Automatic runs include scheduled tasks and conditional triggers. The control in the app is labeled scheduled tasks, with once, fixed interval, and cron. Use the trigger types you see when you open the task.

Can an agent task run without a Skill?

You can select Skills. If the list is empty, no Skill is available yet. Publish and bind one, or run the task without a Skill.

Where do I look if it did not run when expected?

Open the task and check the next trigger, the last trigger, and the run history. A missed trigger follows the misfire policy on that task.

Can it run every day?

Yes. Use cron for a daily time or a fixed interval of 86,400 seconds. Run it once by hand first, then check the first two scheduled runs before you stop watching.

Next step

In a workspace that can already do the job, create one scheduled task, use run now to confirm it works, then keep the schedule.
